Altered Cutting Board with Perfect Paints

Do you ever find that you have extras of things lying around the house....and no idea what to do with them? Yeah...me too! I had some leftover cutting boards from a few holidays ago and decided it was time to do something with them. Add Perfect Paints to the mix and tada....the perfect project!
Got some scrapbook supplies? Then this is the project for you!
Supplies:
Cutting board
Misc Ribbon
Antique keys
Scrabble tiles
Misc flowers
Sheets of music paper
49 & Market Plum Grove - Blossom
49 & Market Plum Grove Die Cut flowers
Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Halo
white Craft paint
Coffee colored ink pad
Mod Podge
Steps:
Using white craft paint cover the entire cutting board (front and back). Then using the ink pad I just inked up the edges for a more rustic look. You can use any color that fits your embellishments.

I had some music sheets that I found online but any old music will do. Inking up the edges will make it look older and worn. I then used Mod Podge to adhere it to the cutting board.
TIP: if you add the Mod Podge while the ink is still wet, it will smear some which add to the rustic look.

Cut a heart out of scrapbook paper. For mine I used the Plum Grove - Blossom from 49 & Market. Mod Podge this onto your cutting board, layering on top of the music. I then added a touch of Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic in Halo to subtle areas of the heart. As well as inked a few areas once it was dry.

Now take some of the flower die cuts and adhere them around the heart. I then used the Shimmering Matte Halo on a dry brush and just wiped it along the flowers and randomly over the cutting board and music sheet.

Once everything has dried - wrap some coordinating ribbon around the board and add some antique keys. I used a few different types or ribbon and hemp string, making sure to unravel the hemp string ends.

Take some flower sprigs and hot glue them underneath the ribbon. One sprig was enough for me since I used a good bit of flower die cuts. To finish off I added some scrabble tiles and wrapped hemp string around the handle. This project would make a cute gift for a wedding shower (matching their colors) or a gift for Mother's Day. You can add some string to make it hang or just prop up on the counter.

Hope you enjoyed today's project. Until next time...happy crafting!!
