Hello everyone! Myry here and today we're gonna delve into the world of sculpture painting!
I've been looking at how to use this type of paste for a couple of months now. And although I don't see myself teaching anyone yet, I think I can give an introduction. But I hope to give you a proper tutorial soon!

I used a small canvas frame (4x6 from Blink studio), a glass work surface (because I'm going to mix a lot), a long-bladed, round-tipped spatula and some brushes.
First I applied a primer, and then I painted the background of the canvas with a sponge, mixing Ballet Slipper, Sea glass and Halo.

Once dry I drew this bird (I found the original on Pinterest)

I've made the following mixtures with the Shimmering Stucco and Shimmering Matte Acrylics:
Shimmering Stucco + Peacock Blue = bird feathers
Shimmering Stucco + Honey Gold + Coral = bird's beak
Shimmering Stucco + Honey Gold + Coral + Peacock Blue = tree trunk
Shimmering Stucco + Rain Slicker + Peacock Blue = leaves
It's so important to take the time to mix them with circular movements, slowly, until the paste is smooth and without lumps.
I've tried two ways to work with the stucco:
- make the shape on a glass plate, let it dry a little, and move it into place using two spatulas.
- take a little stucco with the spatula and make the shape in place, let it dry a little and continue
Use a fine tipped brush slightly moistened if you need to correct something has gone wrong or give more details.
Like everything, it's a technique that requires practice so be patient!
I find it's important to let the layers of stucco dry a bit if you're going to do:
-something with a different color
-something that doesn't belong to the same group but is too close (the feathers vs. the bird's body)
-layer upon layer (leaf upon leaf)
Shimmering Stucco takes a long time to dry when using it as a sculpture, so don't be afraid of it.

So, Shimmering Stucco! A very interesting paste, especially if you like painting and sculpture. And really cool to do with kids. Curiously, in the past, sculpture has never caught my attention but paintings with a 3D effect... Oh dear!
As I said at the beginning, I hope to be able to prepare a detailed tutorial later, when I've mastered the technique much better myself, so wish me luck!!
Have a nice day!
Myry
