Creating a Stunning French Provence Cover with Shimmering Acrylics and Polishing Plasters: A Step-By-Step Guide

Hello everyone! Myry here again, and today we're gonna make the covers from a french provence journal using Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylics  and Polishing Plasters!

Two textured art journals on a wooden surface. One has a floral textured design using Perfect Paints, the other shows a girl with a hat and the text "always with you".

You'll see that it's easy peasy! And you'll need a few supplies:

Jars of Perfect Paints, a floral stencil, and a textured beige mat on a grid surface. Labels and grid lines with measurements are visible.
Lets get started on our backgrounds using Polishing Plaster and Shimmering Matte Acrylics

Mix Sangria with Dove's wing. The tone is softened, very Provencal I think.

Hand holding sangria perfect paint jar over gridded mat. Paint spread with knife, floral stencil nearby. Creative and artistic mood.

Put the stencil in position and distribute the mixture with the sponge. Really I'll should only cover the flowers but I want to see how the leaves would look with a mixture of two colors.

Using a stencil add the sangria/polishing plaster to your background

Do this on both covers.

Two fabric covers stenciled with polishing plaster and sangria perfect paints. Purple rose patterns on a grid background, lace on the sides. Soft, vintage aesthetic.

And now spread Jack frost with the spatula over the leaves, trying not to cover the flowers.

Hey! Those green leaves with that purple shadow look great!

Once dry it's time to decorate the covers.

I'm using these chipboards from Scrapholics with Honey gold.

Open perfect paints jar, lid, brush on grid paper. Two wooden flower cutouts lie on paper marked "A4". Neutral colors, crafting mood.

Tip: Always clean the edges, just in case. Use primer if you want to intensify the paint color. Or, on the contrary, paint over the original color using very little product to give it an "aged" look. Don't forget the edges!

Before finishing, make splashes with the golden tone. I use the tube from a dispenser when the paint is very thick, like this one. I don't recommend using a spray for this.

What do you think? Easy peasy, right?!

I really like this relief that  Polishing Plasters gives it, and that they can be mixed with Shimmering Matte Acrylics  is even better. It's also interesting to see how the result changes depending on whether you use sponge or spatula. It's true that the relief is lost with the sponge, but I love the "blurring" that can be done, very nice to me for a background.

Two floral-patterned cards on a wooden surface. Left card has text "Rosewood Lavender Estate." Right card has a girl, flowers, and text "Always with You."
