Creating Stunning Watercolor Backgrounds with Polishing Plaster: A Step-by-Step Guide for Day Two of Our 12 Days of Christmas Projects

Good afternoon, friends! Nicole here with a fun techique! I decided to experiment a little with Polishing Plaster to create a watercolor background for my layout, and OH MY GOODNESS!!! It worked... you really can create your own watercolors using Polishing Plaster and I'm going to show you how simple, and fun it is...and the best thing about this technique...it will save you money. There's no need to buy watercolors...simply make your own.

Alright, let's get started! To begin, I cut down watercolor cardstock to a smaller size to fit in my SNAP album. Next, I mixed about a teaspoon of the Frosted Pine Polishing Plaster with water using a paintbrush. Just look at that beautiful color! After the Frosted Pine was dry, I repeated the same step using the Cayenne Polishing Plaster and let the brush drip across the top of the layout.

Once this was completely dry, I used a palette knife to pull the Cayenne Polishing Plaster through the stencil to create a fun background full of texture.

Isn't this just gorgeous. Who would have thought that Polishing Plaster could be so versatile. I cannot wait to try this technique on another project using other colors! I'm super excited!
