Creating with unexpected objects and Perfect Paints!

In a world where creativity knows no bounds, the local makers group I recently joined provided a fresh spark of inspiration with its latest monthly challenge: crafting something extraordinary from a humble pair of blue jeans. As I contemplated the many possibilities that this ubiquitous fabric offered, my thoughts kept gravitating towards the often-overlooked pockets—a treasure trove of functional and aesthetic potential. The challenge ignited a whirlwind of ideas, and when I decided to incorporate a splash of Perfect Paints into the mix, the possibilities expanded even further. This exploration led me on a delightful journey of experimentation and imagination, culminating in a unique shadowbox that transformed ordinary denim into a captivating work of art.

Join me as I share my creative process and the vibrant outcome of this intriguing challenge.

Supplies:

49 & Market Plum Grove Laser Cut Wildflowers

49 & Market Krafty Garden Ephemera Bits

Blue Jeans pocket

Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylics in Halo and Rainstorm

Fine tip paint brush

Glut dots and Pop Dots

shadow box

Spray Adhesive

Instructions:

  • Cut out the portion of the jeans that will fit the shadow box. I used the back of the box as my template.

  • Since the jean material is heavy, I decided to use Spray Adhesive to help hold it on to back layer.

Lets start with an old pocket from some jeans!

  • Using the Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic in Halo...I painted along the strip of the pocket in Halo, top and bottom. Then using the fine tip paint brush, I added the dots of Rainstorm.

  • Add the Wildflower diecuts in whatever order you prefer. I wanted some to come out of the pocket and then layered a larger piece over the top. Using Pop dots will give a little height to the flowers as well.

  • Add a few journaling strips from the Ephemera pack and then you are ready to add the backing to the shadow box.

Super cute and quick project and a great way to use some of those old jeans!
