Decorate your backgrounds with Polishing Plasters!! (part 2)
Hey everyone, it's Myry back again! Today, we're diving right back into the world of Polishing Plasters to create some stunning backgrounds. We're keeping things super focused and minimalist this time – no extra supplies needed! It's just me, my trusty spatula, a beautiful "Dove's Wing" polishing plaster, and a stencil. I'm on a mission to complete the final four pages of my current project, and I'm excited to show you how!
My goal? To power through the final four pages of my current project, and I'm bringing you along for the ride! I'll be revisiting the wonderful bubble stencil technique we explored in my previous post for two of these pages, creating that lovely, textured effect. But, of course, I can't resist experimenting! For the other two pages, I'm diving headfirst into another of my layered inventions, stacking on the texture and depth, because, let's face it, I am "the lady of layers!" I can't wait to show you how these simple elements can transform a page.
Let's start by locating the space for the photo and make marks around it to know which space to leave "clean".
I make two holes and "fill" them a little with fabric elements, and behind I glue a piece of paper that contrasts with the other.
I add a little " Dove's Wing" Polishing Plaster with the help of a spatula. I don't want to cover the hole or the elements, I just want the plaster to be another complement.
I made an opening because I want to glue a flip tab back there or something like that (I don't know right now ;_;)
Now it's thousand layers time, always respecting the limit that we marked previously.
And I add more " Dove's Wing" Polishing Plaster with the help of the spatula, with dragging movements, as in my previous post.
For the other page, I do the same with the space reserved for the photo. The next step is to surround the edges with strips of paper, fabric, trims... whatever
Once I have the space surrounded I'm going to use the stencil on top of all those layers if necessary, no problem.
And that it! Believe me, it's very simple!
What struck me most was how wonderfully Polishing Plasters perform as a substitute for traditional texture pastes. While texture pastes can sometimes be a bit bulky and difficult to manipulate, Polishing Plasters offer a smoother, more pliable consistency, making intricate detailing and layering a breeze. The vibrant, luminous colors achievable with Polishing Plasters offer a level of intensity and depth that I haven't encountered with other mediums. If you're looking to add dimension, richness, and a unique visual pop to your creations, I highly recommend giving Polishing Plasters a try. You might just discover your new favorite artistic tool.
Have a good week!
Myry
