How to Create Stunning Music Blocks with Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic Paints
Hi everyone, Becky Thackston checking in and wishing you a fantastic and happy 2025! It's just wild how fast time goes, isn't it? But the great thing about a new year is a whole blank slate for more creative fun! Today, I'm really excited to share one of my latest projects: music blocks I made using Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylics. They're so cute and surprisingly easy to make. I can’t wait to show you how! Grab your supplies and let's get started!
Supply List:
Scrap wood - I used a 2x6 roughly 9 inches long
Music sheet
Floral picks
Paper flower
Hemp string
White and brown craft paint
Recollections Archival Pigment Ink in Coffee
Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic in Espresso
Step 1:
I took the scrap block and sanded it down really good and then covered it with white paint and then covered with brown.
Step 2:
Tear the edges of the music sheet to fit your project area. I then took the recollections Ink pad and inked the edges of the music sheet.
Step 3:
Mod Podge the music sheet to the block
Step 4:
Using a pallet knife I layered the Shimmering Acrylic onto the block pretty heavily and then just spread it all over, covering all areas.
Step 5:
Take a damp paper towel and begin to rub off the acrylic that is layered over the sheet music. Not all of it will come off which is what we want. The remaining paint gives a nice aged look.
Step 6:
Hot glue the picks and paper flower to the top of the block. Tie some hemp into a note and fray the edges. This can then be hot glued behind the flower.
"I've always loved projects that are both fun to make and practical to use, and this one definitely ticks those boxes! I'm confident you'll enjoy this technique for creating charming little blocks, perfect for using in all sorts of projects, no matter the season. Give it a try, and please do share your creations – I'd love to see them!"
XOXO
