Its that time again...Getting Ready for Family Holiday Layouts
In preparation for all the holiday pictures, I am starting on some Christmas-themed layouts. I am working on my oldest daughter, Chelsea, and her fiance's first scrapbook. I am having to work from the current moment to the past in order to catch up for the year. I am using the beautiful 49 & Market "Christmas Spectacular" collection and the gorgeous Shimmering Matte Acrylic Paints!
This layout is for Christmas 2023, which means I have to wait for them to make memories that I can capture.
Supplies
Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylics " Bright Gold, Vintage Patina"
49 & Market "Christmas Spectacular-Welcome" 12 x 12 paper (2 qty)
49 & Market Ephemera Tags Scrapbook Adhesives Foam Squares Black Pen Water Spritzer
Waterproof Mat Suction Tool
You will take one of the two pieces of "Welcome'" 12 x 12 paper and hand cut the door, including the outline of the door so it opens properly, the Christmas trees, and put it aside for later. I love to use all parts of the paper, including the manufacturer strip on the end. Often they have fun designs and colors. I found the words "The Best Time of the Year" on the strip from one of the papers and cut it off along with strips from other papers in the collection, distressed the edges, and adhered to the page. I added vintage library cards, and other random ephemera pieces to create the overall look. A fun technique of ripping and distressing the larger pieces of paper is shown here, add some pen marks to make it stand out and distress it well.
Take the door and Christmas tree you fussy cutted earlier and add on top of a full sheet of the Welcome paper to make it three-dimensional as shown. Use Scrapbook Adhesives foam squares to give the dimension.
NEXT:
Using Bright Gold, Vintage Patina, I put a small circle of paint on the mat, and spritz with water. Take the second sheet of the same paper and place it on a mat with the bottom edge down and the paper straight up in front of you. Use a suction type of tool and one paint at a time and place it on the top edge to create a DRIP that will go down the page. You will start it off, then spritz it with water to make it thinner and run down the page as shown.
Do not be afraid to get wet and drippy with your paints. it creates such a cool effect!
Thank you for stopping by,
