LOVE YOU SO MUCH MIXED MEDIA WALL ART
Good morning, friends! Happy New Year! I have a really neat project to share with you today. I love making wall art for my craft room using a 6x6 mixed media board, Polishing Plaster, stencil and shimmering acrylic paints. It's sooo fun and yes, some may think it's scary playing with paint, but I'm telling you, it's so fun.
To begin, I pour the shimmering acrylic paint across the top of the mixed media board and let it pour down the board. I alternated between the Mermaid Tail, Bohemian Blue, and Peacock Blue. Such a gorgeous color combination! As I was pouring, I was catching the excess paint on the second mixed media board. I used the board that caught the paint because the paint had a nice pattern once I moved the board around a little to shift the paint.
Initially, I was going to use the stencil and board at the top left, but like I said, I liked the other board with the paint looking more even and more white space. I used a floral stencil with the birds for the image. To do this, I taped the 6x6 stencil over the board. Next, I used a palette knife to pull the Icicle Polishing Plaster through the stencil. I just love how pretty it looks!! I set it aside and let it dry.
After the paint dried, I painted the wood veneer to use as the sentiment and added some thread. Next, I used a variety of butterflies rub-ons from 49 & Market to fill in the white space. AH, Seriously, isn't this so great? I'm so proud of this piece.
Here are some close ups of this gorgeous piece! Are you ready to add some acrylic paint and Polishing Plaster to your stash? The colors and texture of these mediums are fantastic.
Thank you so much for visiting today and I hope you found this project inspiring!
