Getting started on our mini holiday shadowbox
Getting started on our mini holiday shadowbox

For starters I purchased the wooden box, tree and snowman at my local dollar store. The snowflake I had left over from another project.

We will start by cutting the background for the box out of the 49 & Market Nature Study cardstock. Any background will do. I really loved this subtle print.

Paint the snowman with Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic in Halo as well as some basic black paint for the hat. Set him aside to dry.

Now we can use the Perfect Paints White Stucco and Polishing Plaster by layering it along the base of the box. We want it to look like snow drifts so the more the better. I used the polishing plaster as a high light. Hot glue the tree and the snowman down into the plaster. Once they have dried good then I piled the plaster along the base of the snowman and tree.

Now it is time to paint the snowflakes. I used the Shimmering Matte Halo on both sides.

Once these have dried, take a little bit of thread and tie around one side. This will then be taped to the top of the box. I used tape so that I could adjust the length just right. Add some details to the snowman and call it a day!
