Mosaic Wooden Horse and Perfect Paints!
Hi all!
As you know I love my wood projects! Add in some Perfect Paints and it really does take the project to the next level. I was working on a Mosaic Horse picture and was kinda stuck on what colors I wanted to do. Next thing you know I have some Perfect Paints pulled down and it really brought the picture alive! I only used two colors and it really gives a huge impact to the over all project.
For this project I used my laser and cut out the base for the horse. My husband built the frame for me once I had it all complete. I also have to different variations since I loved the outcome of the first one so much!
Supplies used:
Laser cut wood image
Variety of basic acrylic paints
Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic
Spray paint in white and black
Sandpaper
For one of the pictures I spray painted the back board black and then went back over it in white. This was then sanded and adhered to a base so that it could be framed.
The horse is cut into individual pieces which I then would take acrylic paint, along with a wet paper towel, and just wipe the color onto the wood. If I decided I wanted a bolder color, I would skip the paper towel technique and just use a brush.
Perfect Paints was used on the feathers. I painted Rainstorm on the outline of the feathers and then Halo for the inside. For added shadows I added some Rainstorm to the Halo in areas.
The horse is then pieced back together and glued down on the base.
For the second horse we used the same techniques. I flipped the image and used a different background. Below you will see what he looks like before I get started painting. I love the challenge of piecing these back together.
For the feathers I painted the base blue and used the Perfect Paints Rainstorm over the top
And for the background on this one I tried something a little fun. I painted the background with white acrylic paint and then lightly add black using a wet paper towel. It really brought out the natural grain design which I loved.
And for the finished piece. There are so many ways you can change up this one project from the paint colors to the background techniques.
Hope you enjoyed this weeks project and I hope you will try some of these techniques on your next masterpiece.
Becky
