Christmas cards by Michelle Sanders

Hey y'all, Michelle here and I know what you're thinking...Christmas is over! BUT hear me out.

You see after a few years I've found a pattern in my life that seems to work out in my favor and it may be a useful trick for you too so I thought I would share. Christmas is my busy season doing markets, serving and just doing life with family so although I buy all the crafty things, I get overwhelmed and the cards and holiday decor just don't seem to get done. But in the week or two after Christmas when my house and my mind are quiet I can take the time to sit down and make a few cards to tuck away for the next year when I know I won't have time to make them. I started out defeated that I didn't get to make them and use all my wonderful Christmas supplies but then the following year when I had handmade cards I was so thankful that I had them! I've done this ever since. Hopefully this allows you to breathe a sigh of relief if you didn't get around to making your cards and it gives you the opportunity to be ahead of the season next year!

So here are my cards and a bit about how I made them! I started out with some papers from 49 & Market, cut them down and folded them to make the foundation for my cards.

Christmas card with Santa, gift box, pinecones, and greenery. Text reads "Here Comes Santa." Gold foil accents on Perfect Paints Marble plaster.
Here comes Santa Christmas Card using Marble Plaster Stucco

For the "Here Comes Santa" card I smeared some Perfect Paints Marble Plaster Stucco on smashed some gold leaf flakes in while it was still wet.

Once it dried well I layered on some 49 & Market die cuts then added a touch of Clear X-Small Glass Bead Gel to the tips of the leaves and pinecones to give it a frosty shimmer.

For the "Christmas Wishes" Card I layered additional 49 & Market papers, inking up the edges for some distressing.

Then I grabbed one of the "Snowy Trees" Chipboard trees and painted it with "Vintage Patina" Shimmering Matte Acrylic. I gave a dusting of snow by highlighting it with some "Shimmering Sage" Polishing Plaster before attaching it to the card.

"Believe in Magic" Card started out by adding Cayenne Polishing Plaster through a Studio Light Stencil to give some red texture to the back layer of the card.

Then I just had fun layering all the amazing 49 & Market die cuts!

Once I got going I had popped all three of these guys! So if your like me and got way to distracted or overwhelmed to make those cards before Christmas, give yourself some grace and sit down to enjoy the process now that the Christmasing has pasted. You will thank yourself next year!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you were inspired to make something beautiful!
