Look at those vibrant colors! I especially liked that I didn't need to dilute them in water but was able to keep all that explosion of color!
And I wanted to pay attention to the way of creating shadows with the different colors.
I made my strawberries with white air dry clay and the help of a mold. I used Coral and Red Wagon for the body of the strawberry, Northern Lights and Vintage Mercury for the leaves, and Rain Slicker and Halo to make other colors, give details and shine.
I prefer white clay so I don't have to use primer, gesso, whatever (I'm very lazy xD and I'm lucky that it's a quality clay and the paints work wonderfully). So the first thing I do is trace the outline I want to paint, marking a line that separates one color from another.
Once I have painted everything with Coral, I make the shadows with Red Wagon. If it's difficult to paint shadows or you don't know where the light is coming from, you can use a lamp/light... on the side to make light and shadows. I usually make shadows on the bottoms and under other layers (in this case, the leaves)
I use Rain Slicker and Halo to give shine and detail, and if I make a mistake I correct it with Coral.
Now, I don't have any light green so I'm going to mix a lot of Rain Slicker with a little bit of Northern Lights until I get the tone I want.
First of all, I superficially paint the leaves with Northern Lights and then finish with the mix.
I almost forgot the flower, thank goodness Halo has a lot of light!
And finally I use a mix of Northern Lights and Vintage Mercury to give shadows and depth to the leaves.
What do you think? Easy peasy!
I hope this short tutorial help you in your future works.
I usually like to make my own embellishments for my scrapbooking projects and lately I've been adding clay figures so I'm delighted with these paintings! I hope to show you more of my embellishments soon! And, of course, I hope you like the Rococo style because you'll see it more often!
Thanks so much for take a look.
Have a good week!
