Hello everyone, it's Jenn, and I'm excited to share a new, steampunk-inspired project with you! This time, we're focusing on color blending and texture creation using the fantastic Shimmering Matte Acrylic Paints from Perfect Paints. I'll be demonstrating how to achieve a gorgeously grungy and visually captivating effect on a small canvas collage. Join me as we explore the art of layering and blending!
Supplies:
Additional Supplies Used:
Chipboard gears
Molded Moths, centerpiece,screws
Metal Quote Plate
1 real screw (to screw plate onto canvas)
Black gesso
White Gesso
White wax
Stencil
6X6 Wood stretched canvas
Instructions:
Start by coating a 6X6 Wood stretched canvas in black gesso and allow it to dry completely.

Next, using white crackle texture medium and a palette knife, apply to the canvas through a decorative stencil. Allow the paste to dry and crack.

Once paste is dry and cracked add embellishments to create your focal image. For this project chipboard gears and molded pieces were used.

Once the focal is ready adhere the embellishments using matte gel medium or A strong adhesive that dries clear. When everything is adhered coat all in black gesso again and allow gesso to dry.

Use Shimmering Matte Acrylic Paint in Peacock Blue to paint all of the gears. This is such a vibrant bright color and adds an amazing pop of contrast with the black. Add clear embossing powder and set with a heat tool carefully.

Alternate between the Peacock Blue and Periwinkle Blue using a wet paint brush to add color to the other elements. Adding water will make the colors blend beautifully! Dry after alternating between the colors each time. Dry brush Barely There Shimmering Matte Acrylic Paint over the raised areas of the embellishments. Do the same with white gesso.

Add a quote plate using a screw to screw to the wood edge of the canvas. Use white gesso to the raised letters to make it pop. Add a light spray of water around the focal point and move the canvas around to allow color to run. Once the entire piece is fully dry add white shimmer wax with a finger rubbed just over raised areas.

Thanks so much for visiting and viewing my project using Perfect Paints! I hope I have inspired you to grab some of these amazing products and create something beautiful! I will be creating more to share with you soon!
